100,000 "Merah Bapak Lim" Members Support BN
BUKIT MERTAJAM, April 29 (Bernama) -- More than 100,000 members of a non-governmental organisation, known as "Merah Bapak Lim", today pledged their support for Barisan Nasional (BN).
Its leader, Lim Ah Hoi, said they would vote for BN in the May 5 general election to ensure the coalition remained in power and would be able to continue with the country's development.
He said the organisation members, who were mostly businessmen, believed that only the BN government was capable of ensuring economic stability in the country.
"I can give the assurance that the organisation members and their family members will give their support to BN to ensure the present young generation gets to enjoy a better life," he told a media conference here today.
He said the organisation was formed 50 years ago with the aim of helping the society, especially the young people from getting involved in social problems.
Meanwhile, its committee member, N.Mogan, said the Indians in the organisation also supported BN because of the various assistance given to the Indian community.
"BN not only helps the Malays, but the people of all race, while the opposition only help their cronies," he added.
Another committee member, Ridzuan Muslim, said various form of assistance were given by the BN government for youths.
