Dangerous To Elect Inexperienced To Form Gov’t – Daim
SUNGAI PETANI, April 27 – Malaysia will be toying with danger if the people elect the inexperienced to form the government in the 13th general election, former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin said today.
He said the present time was not a suitable period for the people to change the national administration with an inexperienced opposition pact, given the economic crisis the world was in.
“The world is in an economic crisis; the United States, Europe, Japan, India and China will face economic problems,” he told reporters after attending a meeting of the Barisan Nasional (BN) election machinery for the Merbok parliamentary constituency, here.
Daim said that if the people elected a government they knew nothing about, which had no experience, the country would be in trouble.
He also said that it would not be advisable to allow PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take over the administration of the country because Anwar did not know much about the economy.
Daim said he was confident that the BN would retain power as the federal government and had a good chance of wresting Kedah and Selangor from the Opposition, provided the leaders and members of the BN component parties remain united.
On the bombing incidents during the election campaign in Penang and Perak, Daim said these were the work of those who knew that they would lose in the election.
“They are trying to strike fear in the people,” he said.
